Aaron, Laura, and Joe here, once again asking you to come to Chumstock, our 4-day bash for founders, funders, researchers, and operators working on climate. This time, we’ve procured a ranch in west Marin with a dance floor in a building literally named the “Boogie Barn,” and we sincerely hope you’ll come spend halloween with us there.
Chumstock is summer camp (but like in the late autumn, apparently) for people who daydream about doing good, from building better batteries to funding emerging climate solutions. It’s a highly-social unconference, which means that it is built for people who a) care about the climate, b) think it’s fun to start stuff, and c) wish that conferences were actually just about making real connections, not vying to be a “thought leader” or whatever. There won’t be any powerpoints or panels, just dinner salons and outdoor activities and crafts and at least one massive halloween dance party. Show up if you’d like to make the kind of community that’ll help you found/fund/build the next generation of climate-positive orgs/campaigns/policies.
This October, we’ll be taking over Walker Creek Ranch, just over the hill from Tomales Bay, about an hour north of SF. It’s an ideal place to go on hikes, have long conversations, and jump in Pond. You’ll be able to sleep in a real bed in a real lodge or roll up with your camping gear and camp by the creek. Most importantly, though, even though there’ll be a solid crew of Chum from previous events, you don’t need to know anyone beforehand to show up and have a great time during this weekend. Whether or not you arrive with existing friends, we know you’ll leave with many new ones!
